A New Year 11 Pathway: Supporting Students to Step Confidently into the Workforce

Nautilus College is proud to introduce a new NESA-approved Year 11 pathway, designed specifically to support young people who are ready to transition from Year 10 into meaningful preparation for the workforce.

As a special assistance school for students in Years 7–11, Nautilus College provides an alternative approach to education that recognises different learning needs. This new Year 11 stream builds on that philosophy, offering a structured senior pathway focused on real-world skills, confidence, and future readiness.

Who is the year 11 pathway for?
The Year 11 pathway is open to students who have completed Year 10 and are seeking a supportive and practical senior option. It is ideal for students who may not thrive in a traditional academic senior school setting but are motivated to build skills for employment, traineeships, or further vocational education.

What courses are available?

All students are required to complete the following subjects:

Aboriginal Studies                             Sport, Lifestyle, and Recreation

English Studies                                  Food Technology

Vocational Training                            Work Studies

What makes this pathway different?

The program is NESA approved, ensuring it meets recognised educational standards while remaining flexible and student-centred. Learning is practical, individualised, confidence-building, and future-focused. Students develop employability skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and work readiness, alongside foundational literacy, numeracy, and personal development.

A supportive senior transition
Moving into senior schooling can be challenging, particularly for students who have faced barriers in mainstream education. Nautilus College’s Year 11 pathway provides a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where students are known, supported, and encouraged to succeed at their own pace.

Looking ahead

The introduction of the Year 11 pathway reflects the Nautilus  commitment to inclusive education and strong post-school outcomes. It provides students with a positive bridge between school and the workforce, supporting them to leave school with skills, direction, and confidence.
